Join us to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the building of the Great Nave. Architect and Cathedral expert Nicolas Kemper leads us through the fascinating story in a critical chapter in the Cathedral’s history from 1925 to its completion on the eve of World War II.
In the midst of the Roaring 1920s, two people, a clergyman and a politician, joined forces to jumpstart the delayed building of the Cathedral of St John the Divine. Bishop William Manning and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, inspired by architect Ralph Adams Cram’s vision, led a nation-wide campaign to fund what we now know as the Great Nave.
The talk will be followed by a reception.
